The beginning of November we headed to a Veteran's Day Pow-Wow.
This little town doesn't have tons of cultural things to expose our kids to, but pow-wows are usually pretty easy to come by.
I have attended a lot of them in my life. My family used to go when I was little. I have never felt out of place, until this one.
I am sure this is exaggerating but it felt true. We walked in the side doors and heard drums playing from the outside and as soon as we entered the building every thing went quiet and all eyes were on our glowing white faces. It was a little awkward. I think I am the only one that felt that way however.
During the drum circles the kids and Terry even got up and did some marching.
Jilli had a little Thanksgiving feast at preschool . . .
Janie got to be the FIRST (this was a huge deal to her) Start Student in her class.
She ate it up, and apparently impressed on all of her class what a big deal it was! Even two weeks later when I go to help in her class the other kids remind me that "Janie got to be the FIRST star student in our class"
Her interview . . .
We had a few play dates with friends . . .
And a goofy picture of our giant dog . . .
Then we moved right into Thanksgiving!
