11 years

Dalyn is officially a tween! HOW WEIRD!

He really is such a great kid. Awesome big brother. Still loves to be involved in whatever game is going on with the other kids. His imagination has not wained in his old age one bit ;)

He started the day with balloons and his requested breakfast . . .

Terry and I had lunch at school with him, and I can't even remember what he wanted for dinner, spaghetti I think? We trade off friend parties and family parties every other year. This is the year for the fam. It was just simple. The day was all about him and what he liked and wanted. He didn't have to do any of his jobs, and of course we showered him with gifts . . .His last gift was a treasure hunt that lead him to this . . .His dad is a sucker for all things boy . . .Dalyn loves it and is getting pretty good . . .Pumpkin pie was his requested birthday cake (that's my boy!) . . .Since I was little we have had the tradition that the birthday kid doesn't get any utensils to eat their cake. . .This creates hazardous conditions when your "cake" is covered in whipped cream and you are sitting right next to your father . . .He was a good sport about it!

Of course the other kids had to get in on the slathering of whip cream on the face action . . . And I just have to add here, I am sure you all notice that most of my kids are in there pj's. They are totally obsessed with pj's! Usually it is only Ryan, but Janie got in on the action too. Not a day goes by that Ryan doesn't ask to put his pj's on at about 3 in the afternoon. I usually say yes, cuz why not? anyway, there you go, my kids LOVE their jammies!

Here are a couple of fun Dalyn facts; He sleeps with his eyes open . . . seriously creepy! Loves everything pasta and seafood. He still only has two volumes, loud and louder.

School comes super easy for him, I rarely see him bring home work and he maintains top grades. He LOVES science and chemistry. His brain is going constantly. Just tonight as I was tucking them into bed he is going on and on about how he figured out how we can live on the moon long term.

He still loves a good cuddle but doesn't solicit for it ever. He still cries if he gets overwhelmed or super frustrated. I'm starting to hear him make comments about girls to his brother and that has me a little freaked out. Just stuff like "whose the cutest girl in your class?" but it tells me he is noticing now.
He has a very spiritual side and grasps eternal concepts like they are just common knowledge.

He is an amazing little boy, I guess I probably can't call him that anymore :(.

I am excited to get to be apart of his life in the years to come!

We love you Dalyn
