We did dinner up right with dinner in a pumpkin . . .It was a hamburger/rice recipe that you mix up and bake in the pumpkin! It was a hit AND a new Halloween tradition. I don't know that I will use the same recipe next year but I will definitely be cooking whatever we eat inside a pumpkin :)
We also did a spooky Halloween drink complete with dry ice and all . . .
Janie kept walking around the table saying "Oh mommy our dinner is so tew-t!" (cute)
The kids were a little terrified of their drinks with the dry ice at first because we told them to make sure they didn't touch the ice or drink it. It didn't take them long to relax a little . . .
After dinner we hit the streets :)
The kids lasted for an hour and a half! Even Jilli! We watched the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, sent the kids to bed and Terry and I watched The Watcher in the Woods! Actually Terry watched it, I mostly hid under the blanket . . .seriously scary movie!
What to do with a giant pumpkin that didn't get carved . . .
The yummy pumpkin seeds we enjoyed . . .
And the dumb cake pops I made for 3 of my kids classes . . . NOT a good plan! But they turned out cute!
that's one class . . . won't be doing that again :-/
I seriously LOVE Halloween! Every part of it, EXCEPT the masses amounts of candy the kids acquire! How do you get rid of it without tears and drama? A friend of mine has "The Great Pumpkin" come Halloween night after the kids have picked out a few pieces to keep. The great pumpkin takes all the candy and leaves a little non-sugary gift. Or I read somewhere you can donate it to foster care or women's shelters . . . I think I will look into one of those :-/
And now a Ryan story. We were trunk-r-treating at church Friday night. The kids just do the loop of cars over and over again until everyone is out of candy. Ryan was making the rounds again toward the end of the night. He got to one car and said "Trick or Treat" at which time the lady told him "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm all out of candy" Ryan decided that wasn't the correct thing for her to say and delivered three swift kicks to her ankle before running off. She came and told me what happened, she was giggling about it but I didn't think it was funny. I had to track down Mr. kicky mckickster and he apologized. I think he felt bad, but I'm not sure if it was because he did something naughty or because he got caught?

Our dentist does a candy buy back. He'll buy it for $1/lb, up to $5 and they donate the candy to the troops. The girls loved it!! They picked out their most favorites and sold the rest. We don't have any candy at our house now. :)
