You have two hours . . .

. . . to pack and be ready to go. This is what I was told on Friday when Terry walked through the door around 1:00. I was totally shocked, did my husband actually PLAN a secret getaway! He gave me a little instruction on what I should pack and helped me hurry and get everything in order. At 3:00 we walked to the school to get the kids then promptly drove them over to my moms, who had so graciously agreed to watch them, which he set up too. Then we were off. He told me nothing, but as we got closer to whatever we were doing he would clue me in.

Eleven years ago I was able to bag myself an unparalleled, stellar specimen of a man! Truly he is the best decision I have ever made in my life! I count myself so blessed everyday to have him! Anyway our anniversary is next week and this was our getaway. Our budget is tight to put it mildly, the fact that he did anything should make me furious, but we have not done anything like this for 5 years, it was about dang time. So I tried to ignore the money side of it and just had a good time!
We were headed to Ashland/Medford. By the time we got into town we had a little time to kill before on of our big events so Plan A, buy a car!

We have been a one car family for about a year now, but with recent developments that is really becoming a problem. We have been searching Craig's list and had some prospects we wanted to look at. So I knew part of our adventure would be to find a car, but just to get this part over with really fast, when you only have about $600 to spend on a car, your options are small to say the least and through many attempts Fri. and Sat. we came home car less so on to plan B, new running shoes!

We headed to the mall and lucky us hit a really great sale at one of the sports stores. We both got great deals on awesome running shoes, which might not seem like a big deal to some, but I LOVE getting new running shoes and it has been about 3 years, so I was pumped! And with no car he will be breaking those in quickly!
After the mall we drove to Ashland and checked into the Ashland Springs Hotel, if you want to see it click here (So sad that I took four pictures then my camera battery died) http://www.vfmii.com/exc/aspquery?command=invoke&ipid=1065947&ids=46557

It was amazing, beautiful, historic hotel here are a couple of pictures I was able to take of our room.

He instructed me to hurry and change then we walked across the street to the Cabaret Theater for a dinner/show. We saw the Mystery of Irma Vep, it was entertaining, though a little crude in parts. The dinner was so yummy! Here is the other picture my camera squeezed out

The show was over late so we just walked back to the hotel. It was blissful the thought of actually being able to sleep through the whole night without a crying child waking us up, (yes at least one child wakes us up EVERY night). Then the idea of actually being able to sleep in the next morning was thrilling! However when you get up at the crack of dawn every morning for years, sleep in means 7 am, sad, remember the days we could sleep till noon? Anyway we were up and at 'um early. The hotel puts on great breakfast, so we enjoyed that then wandered downtown Ashland before the next adventure, THE SPA!

Terry set up a pampering session for me. Relaxing in the steam room then a full 90 minute body massage, HEAVEN. You can forget a couple massage, which I would have liked, Terry HATES to be touched! Now don't get me wrong he is a very huggie, arm around you, pat you on the back, friendly guy, but the idea of laying on a cot while some stranger gives him a rub down, YEAH RIGHT! We will have to wait until, well you know, for that to happen. Me on the other hand no problems whatever and it was AWESOME!

After my pampering he presented me with the worlds best chocolates and flowers. Then we headed to a place we should never go back to . . . Fun Again Games! We heard about this place from some friends of ours we used to do game night with, until they moved (sniffle, sniffle, we still miss you guys!) Anyway they always had the most fun games and we have been wanting to check this store out. Well after an hour we finally left and I'll just say they were VERY glad we stopped by! I would tell the damage but I would embarrass myself, but Steve, every game we ever played at your house, we are now the proud owners of, plus a few, hehehe :)

We spent the rest of the day driving EVERY WHERE searching for a car, and you already know how that turned out. But it wasn't all a waste, we found the yummiest sandwich place in Grants Pass, and had tons of time to chat and we got to drive home together, where if our search had been successful our drive home would have been caravan style.

The kids had a blast at Nana's, as usual and crashed hard that night. Thanks mom for loving my babies while Terry and I got some much needed time together! It was such a fun little surprise escape.

Thanks babe, you are the best!

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I promise I am WAY more bummed about it then you!

Love it... so glad to know that I'm not the only mom who has gotten up with at least one child/night for the past four years... maybe one day it'll end, but I'm not counting on it;) Glad you got a get-away, it is well deserved!

What a guy! That's so great that you two were able to do that, and I know it was well deserved because you're a hard working woman! And Terry too, just not the woman part :) I love going and staying in hotels, it's so fun to sleep somewhere like that. I'm so glad you guys had fun, and happy upcoming anniversary! :O
