Big Girl Beds, Football and Turkey Guts

So this year we were home bodies for Thanksgiving. Terry took the whole week off work and we made a huge list of "to do's" for around the house projects that are just waiting for more hours to be added to the day. One of the main projects was moving our toy room out into the garage.

A toy room is one of those things that I must have in my role as mother of 4. We tried for a few months after we moved into this teensie, tiny 3 bedroom house to just have a boy room and girl room with the respective toys in each, that only lasted about a month, before I had to rearrange to "sleeping room" and "playing room". So the girls room that we had so carefully painted princess turned into the toy room and they were moved in with the boys.

Having four kids sleeping in one room is really not bad. They get used to each others noises and squeaks and learn to sleep through EVERYTHING, and then if the baby is sleeping the girl toys are still available in the other room AND the toy mess is somewhat more contained!

I have been wanting to let the boys and girls have their own rooms again but was not willing to give up the "toy room", so Terry transformed the garage. He put up a wall to separate "work space" with "play space", painted the walls and laid some el cheapo carpet. He set up racks for some semblance of order and we moved every toy out there! It has been so nice!
I was a little afraid they wouldn't play out there because they would feel so removed from everything, but I am pleasantly surprised, they LOVE it!

Along with the moving of the toy room we moved the girls back into the princess room, and in the process took Graesons crib down for good! My mom gave us a queen bed and we decided to let the girls have it rather then buying mattresses for Graeson we put the crib and Raegans bed away and gave them the queen bed to share. They love it. I thought Graeson would have more issues with leaving her crib AND moving to a new room AND sharing a bed with her sister, but nope, it is like we have always done it this way.
The first night she got out of bed once and today when we put her down for a nap she got up once
and apparently attempted to get out again before she fell asleep, but over all it is working out great!
I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. the other day she even asked to sit on the potty and actually tinkled, total accident I assure you but still, my baby is not so much a baby anymore.

Here is the boys room, no more bunk beds! they are thrilled!

Then Thanksgiving morning we started the day with the annual Turkey Bowl. Terry got together with a bunch of guys to play their once a year football game, they had a blast!
The kids and I braved the cold and played at the park while Terry played football.

Then we did the whole turkey dinner and fixins! This year we decided to rotisserie our turkey, and wow it turned out great! Super moist and I did not have to know what I was doing at all, I did kill the rolls and forgot the bread dressing, but whatever the pie was good, which I cheated on too. Pillsbury makes a wonderful roll out crust, hey I have nothing to prove! I make a fabulous pie crust, and if you ever want to try it I will be happy to make it for you on a day I am not making and entire turkey dinner with all the "stuff" that goes with it.

In the process of getting the turkey ready for the rotisserie Dalyn discovered the guts of the bird and asked to dissect them, okay then. So he and the other kids sat at the table and hacked to pieces the Turkey guts, so fascinating I know, but they had a good time!

Then Friday morning I actually got up and did the whole "black Friday" madness. I really hate shopping then stick me in with 500 other people all trying to get the same deals it makes for a crabby day. But I did get some great prices and I am 75% done with Christmas so that is a huge relief. I got home and Terry took the kids so I could sleep for a couple of hours. It has been a great week!

It looks great!! I love that they wanted to dissect the turkey guts, so very curious! Oh, and I COMPLETELY understand about the dog dilemma. We just got rid of Pepper. Sad, but not. It's tough. Someday I'll get around to blogging our story.
