Dalyn is growing up so fast!
He is such a great kid!
He still has such a sense of fun and play. He engages well with whatever company he is with. He gets along so well with his sibling on most occastions. He is a bit of an antagonist but that's what big brothers do, right? And he always seems to know when to back off. It's always in good fun, never to be mean or make someone sad.
I keep waiting for him to be "too cool" for things, that seems to come with boys this age. As of yet I have not seen a single trace. I am so thankful for that!!!
I can't believe he is already 12! I only have 6 more years with my boy and he will leave! Of course I am thrilled for him but it does make me a little sad too!
He loves toasted tomato sandwiches, being outside, biking, roller blading, riding his scooter, donuts, legos and watching Merlin. He is always planning something on paper: New languages, names of characters for the books he plans on writting, symbols and secret codes, plans for engines or buildings.
This is an example of what he spent one afternoon doing:
He made two of these. Drew it first then drew it again and cut it out to see if it would make a block. Pretty smart little sucker!
His sixth grade class got to go to Ourdoor school at the end of the year. There is a camp on the coast that the kids get to live at for a week. There are cabins and an entire private beach for them to explore and study. He was thrilled to go and of course I was so nervous! He has never slept away from home except at grandparents houses. He of course did great, not home sick at all. But I sure got home sick for him. I may or may not have cried a little.
We made signs and met the bus at the school to welcome him home!
Turning twelve is a bench mark for our church. He was able to recieve the priesthood, became a decon, passes the sacrament and now he can go to the temple!
Terry and I got to go with him on his first temple trip! What a wonderful experience!
It is such a proud moment to see your child choose to be worthy to go into this wonderful place and to take the experience seriously!
It was such a great day!
Dalyn was also in band this year. He chose to play the clarinet and has shown quite a talent in it. Music in general seems to be something he really excels at . . .
Dalyn also had the opportunity to go to scout camp this year. I am getting a lot of practice having him gone for days on end . . . I still don't like it!
Terry was able to spend the first night with him so he was able to snap a few pictures
They camp at Crescent Lake. We are so blessed to have so many beautiful lakes with in a couple of hours. They enjoyed the week and the weather was perfect for them.
This is a basket Dalyn made for his basket weaving merit badge. I think it is hilarious they even have a basket weaving merit badge!
We sure love our D-man. He is growing into such a wonderful young man. I feel so blessed that I get to be a part of his life!
