It Worked

Terry has been traveling A LOT lately. Whenever he leaves he makes sure Dalyn knows that he will be the man of the house. This is a job Dalyn takes VERY seriously.
The other day (when Terry was away) I asked Dalyn if he could please get the fire going. He attempted and about 20 minutes later there was still just a pile of cold wood. I asked him to try again. He was a little frustrated but started working on it. The next thing I know the house is toasty and there is a lovely fire blazing away. I commented to him on the great fire he built.
He said "I couldn't really get it going there was only one tiny flame, so I said a little prayer that the fire would keep going and it worked!"Then this week he had a pretty major part in the school Christmas play. He did AWESOME! It was SO fun to see him in that kind of role and just shine. He was animated and easy to understand. I couldn't stop smiling! I really don't want to sound like I'm bragging but it was AWESOME to see my baby boy as the star of the show and really own it . . .so proud! ANYWAY, of course I am gushing all over him and he is just taking it all in stride, cool and collected. Then just as nonchalant he says "I just said a little prayer before I started that I wouldn't forget any of my lines, and it worked!"There is only so much you can tell your kids by way of gospel learning. At some point they are going to have to try these things out to know for themselves. We talked and it worked! He was listening!
He seriously made my week! Just knowing when he was facing a challenge, no matter how big or small, his instinct was to pray for help. And not only that he recognized the results when they came.

How comforting, as his mom, to know that this 10 year old boy recognizes that there is something bigger then him out there. It is a loving Heavenly Father who only want the best for him personally and will help him in ANY situation, all he has to do is ask . . . and he knows that. He knows it will work.
He knows because he tried it and it worked!

Such a great kid! Way to be D-Man!

I'm sitting here with big globby tears rolling down my cheeks. If Dylan wanted to make me cry, it worked. What a great boy (and blog post) Thanks for sharing.
