Full on "Old-Fashion"

So this actually happened the very beginning of February, but I am just getting to it now.
One night at dinner the power surged and was out for about 10 seconds. Not much time but enough to get quite the reaction from my kids. The lights came on and the conversation led into a bunch of "what ifs".
What if the lights didn't come back on?
I said we would just bust out the flashlights and candles and be just fine. Terry was out of town on business again and Dalyn always takes the "man of the house" role very seriously so his wheels were turning as to how he would take care of us if the lights went out again.
Ryan had a stroke of brilliance at this moment and said, "How about, after dinner we turn all the lights off and go full on old-fashion!"
Dalyn liked the idea, "Yeah, then we could practice for when it really does happen."
So that is what we did.
What a FUN night!
I set up some rules around the candles and then the kids went on living "full on old-fashion"
They pulled out the puzzles, played shadow puppets on the wall, told jokes, and played hide and seek, with out any suggestion from me. Like they just knew how "old-fashion" kids had fun at night.
It really was a great memory! Ryan asks frequently now if we can go "full on old-fashion" and turn the lights off again :)
And I only had to scrape wax off two surfaces ;)
