Portland

So when it was time to take Cassie home, we all piled in the car and headed to Portland. Terry had to work so she came and stayed in the hotel with us so we could bum around town and she could watch the kids for us while Terry and I went to a Timbers game!

How do you fit 8 people in a hotel room with ONE king bed???

Very carefully! We hit a few fun Portland parks, did some shopping, rode MAX and . . .

Watched the Portland Timbers DESTROY the LA Galaxy . . . David Beckham and all . . .poor little guy ;)Super fun night! Thanks a million to Bill for scoring us such sweet tickets!!!!

And I just have to throw this one in here.

You know I get A LOT of looks anytime I've got all five of my kids anywhere, especially in Portland where they all only have two kids and three nannies to help them.

As much as I try not to care what other people think, I always feel like I have something to prove when I take my kids in public. Portland has these super fun food carts all over the city and we decided to have lunch at them one day. And just having all 5 (6) of my babies lined up at once taking up the entire bench all while people walk by with looks of unbelief on their faces that these could possibly all be mine, made me so happy just then! I was pretty proud of myself, but look at them, how could you not be so proud?

I hear ya! Everyone here has nannies for each kid and maids and cooks. At my friend's school, her daughter's classmate got his own maid for his 10th birthday! I felt like Mother of the year when we moved here just because I didn't have a maid for the first couple of months. I still feel pretty good because I don't have a nanny and only a part-time (not live in) maid. It puts it into perspective a bit, how important and busy it is to be a mother. I am proud for you. Look how cute those little hooligans are!
