Halloween . . .Finally!

I always have to laugh when I read peoples blogs and they say, "I am FINALLY getting this posted, it happened like TWO weeks ago, I am such a slacker blogger!"

Sheeesh, ONE MONTH later here is Halloween :)

We started it off with Scarecrow Row. All the little businesses on our main street do trick-or-treating for the kids, and there is a costume parade down main street as well.

Dalyn was mortified that he had a costume on. I think his days of dressing up are quickly coming to and end :( And to make it worse some of his friends were there not dressed up, poor guy. Raegan decided she wanted to do Wizard of Oz, she would be the witch, Janie would be Dorothy, Jilli would be pink Toto and Ryan was . . .
A flying monkey! hehehe :)Doesn't Dalyn look tortured? It makes me laugh a little :>After we stopped at the first shop and the kids got a little loot Dalyn decided it wasn't so bad and started to really have a good time. I even heard him say "This is so cool!" a couple of times. Then we enjoyed a fun train ride around town . . .One of my favorite things about having a garden every year is my pumpkin patch. Last year we got a few but this year was awesome . . .50 PUMPKINS!!!!!!

We decided it would be way tons of fun to invite about 50 kids (and their parents) over to have a little fall pumpkin patch party, so we did!
Terry did a little FHE lesson about choosing good friends, Ryan lead the music and we had lots of fun games . . .

I made these jars and filled them up with stuff to gross the kids out . . .

Our WAY fabulous neighbors let us borrow their tractor and trailer for hay rides, the most popular event of the night hands down!
We played donuts on a string . . .
And chucked apples at a giant jack-o-lantern face, had a huge fire and hot cocoa and treats. It was such a fun night I can't wait for next year!
A couple days later we made our caramel apples and slaughtered our pumpkins . . .
On to pumpkins while the caramel apples cooled . . .We used patterns for the first time this year . . .Scoopin' the guts! We did fish out about 8 cups of pumpkins seeds and roasted them, I think they only lasted three days . . .so yummy! Not to shabby, eh?After our pumpkin masterpieces were finished we scarffed our ooey, gooey apples . . .
Super fun night!
Janie had a preschool party. She is so stinkin' cute! Then we got all dressed up on Saturday night and headed to the church for trick or treating and chili cook off.
Jilli the pink Toto . . .
Janie as Dorothy . . .Raegan was the wicked witch . . .Ryan wasn't diggin the flying monkey bit anymore and decided to be a race car driver . . .
Terry was in charge of individual shots and apperantly forgot we have an oldest son, (luv ya babe ;)
Really, I think Dalyn was in the back with me getting scars painted on his face.
I did not buy a single costume this year! We just dug around in our box and the kids were thrilled to wear what we already had, yay! AND I hit the sale after Halloween and got major discounts on their costumes for next year, double yay for that! We had another awesome year with one of my favorite holidays!
