Dalyn turned TWELVE!!!! What?
That is only one year away from teenage-dom!
Not sure how I feel about this . . .
On his actual birthday he woke to balloons and had the honor of selecting every meal we ate. For dinner, shrimp pasta, salad and french bread . . .
His birthday is on 3-14 . . .Pi day! So what does that mean for me? Now that he knows about Pi forever more March 14 will rival Thanksgiving in how many pies I have to make.
His class was celebrating Pi day so I made a couple of pies for that (2 pumpkin)
Then for dessert after his birthday dinner he requested lemon mereinge . . .
THEN after his birthday party (which we had a couple of days later) he wanted to feed his friends chocolate cream pie instead of cake and ice-cream, so I obliged.
Good thing I don't hate making pie!
We sent him on a "hunt" for his gift . . .
Again with the lost pictures. We took tons of pictues of him on his birthday present, but I can't find them :(
He scored a sweet electic scooter this year. I'm not sure who likes it more Dalyn or Ryan!
A couple of days later we had his friends party (we only do "friends" parties every other year).
What do you do for a 12 year old boy?
Backwards Party . . .
The kids wore name tags and had to call each other their backwards names while at the party . . .
For dinner we served hamburgers, backward style layered as follows: Patty, tomato, lettuce, bun, pickles, cheese, Patty
And of course they had to eat UNDER the table . . .
When it was time for gifts we sat everybody down then Dalyn handed gifts out to all of them. They were pretty surprised.
We also had a guessing jar filled with candies, the boys all guessed how many pieces were in the jar. The winner was the person who was the furthest away. One kids guessed the exact amont, too bad for him it was a backward party!
When it was time for cake (chocolate cream pie) we all sang "You to Birthday Happy" I had the words printed out so we didn't do too bad!
At first I was super worried the boys would be bored because I didn't plan games but I found out quick all a bunch of 12 year old boys need is plenty of pinecone ammunition and they will entertain themselves for hours . . .
It was a fun party. Dalyn really enjoyed it and that's what matters to me :)

Seriously, I just need to call you before I throw any kind of birthday party or party in general. What a clever idea and one that I'm sure none of those boys will forget.
