Last 2011 Hoo-rah

We decided to kick 2011 out with a bang. New Years Eve eve, we headed to our lovely Lake of the Woods. We are blessed to have THE most amazing girls camp/church camps I have ever seen! And the good news is we can stay there anytime, except June through August when the Young Women take over! My family used to come up here in the winter when I was little. I still have fond memories of that, and knew I wanted to make some of those same memories with my wee ones!

On arrival my kids ran around the hills to find their "Indian Camp" they had built over a year ago when we were up for a friends birthday party. And what do you know, it was still there!
After a little running around we started the CRAZY club! While most people bring boots, gloves and snow pants to play in the snow we brought . . .swimsuits!

It started out as just a joke we were teasing about then it grew from there and we found ourselves on the dock of the icy lake. The dare was to jump in get all wet then book it back to the cabin where we had a blazing fire and hot cocoa waiting.Terry videoed all of it so these are the only pictures I have. We all did it (except the two little girls). Terry was the CRAZIEST with a full on cannon ball! It was COLD, and CRAZY! We are still laughing about it, and I am pretty sure we will laugh about it forever and that was the point :)After we thawed out we enjoyed a chili dog dinner, lots of hot cocoa and of course s'mores! We played a lot of card games and the kids watched a movie . . .of course we brought stuff for a movie :)And Ryan got a little of this in . . .Later that evening some of our favorite friends joined for the night . . .The kids ran around outside until late. I think we finally got them all settled down around 10:30.

The next morning we enjoyed a yummy breakfast, then loaded up and plowed our way home!

It was such a great time! The kids said we needed to do this every year sometime during their Christmas break . . .I agree!!!

You're nuts but what a fun mom you are. My hats off to you for not only going to Lake of the Woods with all your kids in the winter but for even entertaining the idea of swimming in the lake let alone doing it with the majority of your kids. You're my new inspiration!
